This proposal was the winning project in the two-stage design competition for the construction of an alternative road system in the Champoluc district of the Municipality of Ayas.

The firm participated as the lead consultant in the ‘PERCHAMPOLUC’ design group (which included: Structural and Geotechnical Engineering Associate Firm Ingg. Oliveri, Neostudio Architetti Associati, Elisabetta Barboro Geologist, Alessia Oppido, Artaz).

The design idea is to divide the two flows of the regional road SR45 into two distinct single-lane carriageways, connected by a roundabout located at the end of the town centre.

A distinctive element of the proposed road system is the introduction of a new vehicular bridge (flanked by an independent cycling and pedestrian walkway) that connects the west side with the east side.

From an aesthetic point of view, the new bridge is characterized by its linear geometry and by the use of Corten steel, which blends well into landscape contexts such as the one in question.

Special attention was given to the two parking areas, which collectively provide a total of over 250 parking spaces.

The pedestrian area of Route Ramey, which is designated to be the tourist and commercial heart of Champoluc, has a linear development and must be transversally "stitched" into the territory by means of pedestrian pathways capable of joining the two banks, also connecting the new road system and the adjacent parking areas with the pedestrianized part of the linear centre.

At the end of the road towards the valley, the new Place R. Dondeynaz is redefined, extending the public space towards the stream, thanks to the partial covering of this stretch.

The result is a larger, more unified square, featuring a system of fountains, a series of partially removable seats, and bordered towards the street by a raised edge with water jets.
