The Project for the new Arcaplanet center, located in the Municipality of Carasco (GE), involved a major restructuring with a change of use of an industrial warehouse. This proceeded with complete strip-out and integral retrofit operations to transform the now-disused building into an open and transparent headquarters.
The new building structure is organized into three floors, including:
-
A basement floor dedicated to car and motorcycle parking for the exclusive use of the business;
-
Two above-ground floors for the Arcaplanet offices.
-
The floors are connected by two new stairwells, both equipped with an elevator, and an independent internal staircase has been added between the ground floor and the first floor.
The structural intervention included the following works:
-
The demolition of the existing reinforced concrete Shed roof;
-
The retention and consolidation of the first slab between the basement and the ground floor;
-
The construction of a new slab (first floor), built entirely of reinforced concrete using precast REP beams and hollow core slabs (or hollow-core panels);
-
The jacketing (or enlargement) of the existing reinforced concrete columns and the consequent widening and connection of the existing foundation plinths (or footings);
-
The construction of new columns to supplement the existing structural grid;
-
The construction of the access ramp to the basement, carried out using micropiles placed along the perimeter of the property boundary adjacent to the neighboring buildings.
These works were designed and implemented to guarantee the large spans provided by the architectural design, ensuring freedom of action and movement for the logistics of the spaces and environments.
