The project involved the construction of a new NaturaSi store at Corso Europa 292, replacing an existing complex. The architectural design of the new supermarket was entrusted to the Architecture firm, while Studio PRD handled the structural design.

To construct the building, an excavation of approximately 5 meters in height on the mountain side was necessary, sloping down to the level of Corso Europa.

 

To avoid constructing temporary structures beneath adjacent buildings, the TOP DOWN method was chosen. First, a bulkhead was constructed using 600 mm diameter CFA piles. A 50 cm high, bidirectionally reinforced, cast-in-place slab was then constructed using the U-Boot technique, with a span of 14 m, to counteract the existing bulkhead. Following the construction of the slab, top-down excavation was performed.

The study also dealt with the relocation of a 500 mm diameter drainage channel passing through the intervention site, diverted to the edge of the lot.

The building features a large sales area on the ground floor, constructed from reinforced concrete. The supermarket's roof, accessible via an external ramp and a stairwell inside the building, is used as a parking lot for those using the space below.

The portions of land bordering the external ramp are made with reinforced earth with the aim of defining a green wall in harmony with the green spirit of the supermarket.

The calculation, including the definition of the stresses for the various load combinations in the individual structural elements, as well as, where possible, their verification, was performed by implementing a three-dimensional structural model of the building using specific finite element structural calculation software MASTERSAP 2018 from AMV.
